| Aira praecox | Poaceae | Early Hair-grass |

Description - This is a very small grass with a short flower spike, seen only in early summer, after which it usually dries up.
Habitat - This grass has a more coastal distribution than its relative A. caryophyllea, enjoying areas of short turf and sand-dunes, but can be found inland as well.
Comments - Not as frequent as A. caryophyllea, but may be overlooked owing to it's size.
