Aleuria aurantia Pyronemataceae Orange Peel Fungus

Aleuria aurantia nnkb

Description - Aleuria aurantia, Orange Peel Fungus. This fungus belongs to the class Discomycetes, which have relatively simple fruiting bodies, mostly somewhat saucer-shaped like this one. Each "saucer" is smaller than the actual object, about 1 -8 cm in diameter. The colour is a bright orange, the outer skin being slightly paler. They are found in groups in damp soil, often on paths, or in very short grass. These in the photo were found in a cemetery. They are edible, if you have the patience to collect enough!s
