| Asplenium trichomanes | Maidenhair Spleenwort |

Description - A delicate fern with small round leaflets on either side of a stiff, curved, brown stem.
Habitat - On mortared walls.
Comments - The commonest of the calcicole (lime-loving) ferns found on walls in Guernsey. The three others are: Maidenhair Fern, Wall-rue and Rusty Back. Most of Guernsey is formed of acid, igneous or metamorphic rocks so these ferns are only found in man-made habitats.
