Hygrocybe psittacina, Parrot Waxcap. This small fungus gets its name from its unusual colours. The cap is yellow, often with orange tints, but the gills and the point where the stipe joins the cap are green. The stem is yellow with a green apex, and the whole sporophyte is very slimy, especially in damp weather. It is not a large fungus, being only 3-8cm high, cap 1-2cm in diameter. It is found in short grassland, in gardens, cemeteries, and on pathside banks, and is quite common in Guernsey. It is not poisonous, but not worth eating.
