|Ornithopus pinnatus||Fabaceae||Orange Bird's-foot|
Description - A tiny pea-flower, barely reaching 3mm in length, and dark yellow rather than orange. The leaflets are also small, with 3-6 pairs of leaflets. The seed-pods are brown, with constrictions along the length.
Habitat - In short, coastal turf.
Comments - Only found in the Scilly Isles in Britain, and quite rare here, growing only in the north east corner. Plant numbers vary from year to year, and it will sometimes come up in large numbers where the soil has been disturbed, to drop back to just a few the following season.
