| Nasturtium officinale | Brassicaceae | Watercress |

Description - Watercress has large heads of small pure white-flowers growing over glossy green leaves.
Habitat - Found in clear streams and in ditches.
Comments - This plant can be confused with Fool's Water-Cress, but has much larger, pure white flowers, each with only four petals, in dense heads; and it tastes much nicer! The four-petals show that is is in the Cabbage Family along with the garden cresses and mustard. Fool's Water-cress is in the Carrot Family. Many valleys in the island have the remains of shallow ponds used for cultivating Water Cress, but little is now grown in the island.
