| Senecio vulgaris var. denticulatus | Asteraceae | Rayed Groundsel |

Description - This looks like a small groundsel plant, but has distinctive, wide-spread ray florets all around the circumference of the flower-head, giving it a starry appearance. Leaves are the same as in Common Groundsel, but usually quite small, as is the whole plant, reaching about 15cm, but could be as short as 3cm - as in the picture.
Habitat - This variety is found mainly on the cliffs, growing in patches of bare soil and on the sides of the cliff paths.
Comments - A distinctive small plant which stars the cliffs in April and May.
