|Boletus rubellus||Boletaceae||Ruby Bolete|
Boletus rubellus, Ruby Bolete. This is a relatively small Bolete, cap 3-7cm across, of a mat red colour. Underneath the pores and stipe are yellow, and on bruising turn slowly blue. It reaches about 10 cm in height, and is usually seen in small groups erupting from grassland near broad-leaved trees. It is a good edible species, and is not common in Britain, although in Guernsey I have seen it in several places where it can be found every year.
