Year Six, at Amherst, have to study transport during the Victorian period, as part of their history topic, and in particular railways.

This is linked to the QCA Units 18 and12.

As we live in Guernsey, we were finding this aspect a little difficult, because we don't have any railways or trains in the island at present.

We therefore contacted The National Railway Museum in York for help. Fortunately they were able to supply us with photographs, plus other useful pieces of information, that have a connection with Guernsey. This site contains the images, together with very interesting stories.
Hopefully, the information will be of benefit to other schools, not necessarily those confined to the Channel Islands.

Have fun!
