During 1996 which was the first full year of Crimestoppers locally, 112 calls were received on the Crimestoppers number 0800 555 111. As a result of these calls 22 persons were arrested and charged with various offences such as assault, drugs, theft, burglary and vehicle crime.
Property to the value of £10,850 has been recovered and drugs with the street value of between £27,000 and £36,000 has been seized. Only one reward was requested and paid out during the year.

The local Board of Directors of Crimestoppers and the Guernsey police are delighted with the response to Crimestoppers. They would wish to remind members of the public that it costs nothing to call 0800 555 111, the call is completely anonymous and confidential. The Board of Directors say that Crimestoppers is the public's opportunity to assist the police in the fight against crime and to ensure that the Islands remain a relatvely low crime area.
