ART
What is the course about?
The structure of the course is similar to GCSE – 2 coursework units
and 1 examination unit.
The nature of the course is about developing skills while increasing knowledge
and understanding of artistic ideas and ways of seeing.
Which skills and/experience would be useful or essential?
You need an open mind, willingness to experiment and a love of at least one
of the following – drawing, painting, printing, sculpture, computer
art, textiles and history of art. If you are studying GCSE Art you need to
achieve at a grade C. If you gave up Art in Year 9 and really regret that,
you can bring us a sketchbook of current ideas and we will discuss whether
or not Art is for you.
How will I learn and be assessed?
Assessment is at the end of each unit. You will learn by becoming engrossed
in your subject.
What opportunities are available to me?
You can work in many media and you can use the sixth form art room in your
own time.
Tutors from Art Schools often come to us to interview students.
