PHOTOGRAPHY
What is the course about?
The course has an emphasis on the basic fundamental principles and processes
associated with the photography. At the start of the course you complete short
workshops with clear learning objectives to allow you to confidently work
within the department. You then work on specific coursework modules researching
a selection of artists/photographers and producing a variety of photographs.
Which skills and/experience would be useful or essential?
We expect you to have a clear understanding of why photography is so culturally
important. You should be able to explain the reasons behind your subject choices
and their relevance to photography. For example you may think that Art &
Design or Media Studies will compliment your photographic work.
How will I learn and be assessed?
You will actively be involved in group and individual and will critically
evaluate your own work and the work of others at specific points during a
project assessment is based on your potential skills and ability to develop
an idea and research the work of relevant photographers /artists.
What opportunities are available to me?
Many students go on to study Photography, Art and Media based courses at University
level having put together a good portfolio of their work. Other students choose
to seek employment within the photographic industry.
