SPORTS STUDIES
What is the course about?
This course focuses on sporting performance and how an athlete can improve
with the help of physiology psychology. The course will give you up to date
knowledge regarding practice, training and skill acquisition. Topics include
motivation, arousal, biomechanics and feedback. You will learn how to develop
your own sporting performance.
Which skills and/experience would be useful or essential?
We recommend that you have achieved at least a grade C in GCSE English and
Science. Areas that compliment this subject include Psychology and Biology.
How will I learn and be assessed?
Learning involves practical work in the gym or on the track, group work in
class, student presentations, quizzes, written and practical tests, problem
solving and using ICT to research. Assessment is via two pieces of coursework
each year and two exams at the end of the school year.
