YELLOWSTONE

Yellowstone Park is one of those places that you suspect might not live up to expectations. Well it does. The geysers, the wildlife and the canyon were more than we expected. We visited at the beginning of May 97 when the park had just opened for the season and the animals were very much in evidence

We had hardly driven into the park when we saw a herd of Elk.

We were staying at the Lodge at Old Faithful, so our first appointment was with the geyser. It really does fire off every 56 minutes, however it is a fairly short show compared with the Castle geyser. This only goes into action twice a day, but when it does the display lasts several hours.

There was lots of boiling water and bubbling mud to see. Brendan checked the temperature and it was hot.

We also got close to the wildlife, particularly one bison.
