LOUGH ERNE

Brendan hails from County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland and so Lough Erne is home ground to him. However he had never cruised the two loughs before as we did in September 97. The boat was from a yard owned by Guinness (yes there were some in the fridge on board) and was easy to live on and drive.

The weather was calm and sunny and it was all over far too quickly

We started at the southern end of the two loughs and headed north. We soon discovered that although we had the loughs to ourselves we did have company on board. Brendan had chance to sunbathe at one of the stops.

At Enniskillen  we stopped to feed the locals. We flew the Guernsey flag as we cruised along.  We stopped at Devenish Island, the site of an early monastery.

We reached Kesh and then turned back south flying the Guernsey flag.

We think we may well do it again, if you are interested Emerald Star and Northern Ireland Tourist Board have web sites with lots of useful information.
