Would you buy another Rover?: Yes but will have to be 220 Coupe
Problems: Yes, but only initially because it was bought cheap at 107,000 miles with FSH and required some initial work on engine, cam-belt, radiator etc
Comments: Smooth power delivery from M16 engine but too much understeer in wet conditions & PAS too noisy. Considering the age of the car, I am impressed with the overall performance and I can still get 40mpg on a long run+leather interior is as good as new. Only cost 90 quid to get windscreen replaced last month after finding a 3 foot crack!.

Comments: VIt´s the most fasten car than I drive. Since I owned, I have been eaten BMW's, Audi's, Mercedes and others the last 2 years. Ah! I'm forgeting an important detail: the girls turn your heads a lot...!!!¿ Do you understand why I think is a marvellous car?

Would you buy another Rover?: Yes
    Problems: No
Comments: Very underestimated, brilliant handling and performance for a 1.8. Much cheaper to run than a turbo and not far behind performance wise and very modern dash. £19,000 new, all this for under £7,000 2 years old.

Comments: This is my second Rover having progressed from a 416 Gsi, and my only gripe is the lack of a big V8 to goto next. Looking at the models coming out now Rover seem to be realising the way to go so lets hope the future holds some good news !!!!

    Year: 1995
    Engine Size: 1994
Buy from new: No - 2nd owner
Would you buy another Rover?: Yes
Problems: Not on this one. Previously had an MG Maestro fitted with the same turbo engine and that was a pain! Cambelt snapped at 4000rpm taking four vales with it. One exhaust valve stuck a speed and burnt out. Apparently the earlier design of valves was prone to this if it got carbon build-up (inevitable) and were later modified. Piston ring also went. Still liked the car though and it was blindingly quick!
Comments: I love this car. I found it advertised privately after giving-up on the local dealer finding the right spec. This had everything - full leather interior, air-con, ABS, CD, you name it! It also had a story. Back in 1995 Rover made about 50 Coupes for export to Japan (along with other models) but the deal fell through and they were stuck with them. They sold on most models but moth-balled some of the Coupes until 1998 when they decided to sell them. Mine was one of those and the result is that I effectively have a car only 16 months old with 7000 miles!

Problems: No major problems. The only problem to date is a steering vibration between 50 & 70 mph. I have spoke to a number of people who have the same problems on there 216's. Any ideas?
Comments: Can't belive it's only a 1600cc engine (IT GOES LIKE STINK). I've uprated the brakes, added a mongoose exhaust, removed the cat, added a K&N induction kit, changed the wheels and lowered it. By the way it's the wife's car.

    Engine Size: 2.0 injection/turbocharged
Buy from new: No - 3 years old
Would you buy another Rover?: Possibly - if another rapid model available
Problems: I blew the engine up on motorway-piston 4 went on it which apparently is a common fault. Vage engines sent me a new engine (reconditioned). The gearbox then went, followed by the drive shaft. All these areas are common fault on the turbo models and will nearly always go around 70,000-85,000 miles so beware. Apart from that I have upgraded front discs, Motobuild have chipped car to around 260bbhp, i have also fitted 17" Kosei racing Seneka wheels & some of the Mynheer body kit (Vorlon rear spoiler). The car is extremely rapid and not much touches it in the performance department. Despite it's problems it now looks drop dead and people nearly crash their cars looking at it, so what more could you want.

Comments: as i say its 2nd coupe for me cos i wrote off the 1st (1.6) and i think they're really nice cars! i have some minor mods air filter, exhause, lowered, 17 polaris ect, and nice sounds too and it looks great! does the job!:O)

    Buy from new: No
Would you buy another Rover?: no unless it was 220 turbo, brand new
Problems: yes, head gasket blew due to overheating.exhaust was off a 2litre(non turbo)had to replace full system due to it being 1 inch too thin causing performance problems.please note all of these problems were due to the garage i bought the car the car of,robbing bastards and not due to the car being bad""""
Comments: this is one of the fastest (non supercar) cars on the road. I personally have blown away numerous cars in mine. 0-60=6.3secs 150mph top speed. Brakes could be better, a turbo gauge would be nice. I noticed that the 1.6/1.8 coupes have an engine check light on dash but not on 2.0/turbos dont.apart from that i love my turbo. Go and buy one now, you wont regret it !!!

Problems: So far in the past year no more than the usual wear and tear,(thats probably put the kiss of death on it!!) I have always had japanese cars up till this one, but liked the style of the car, and so far so good. Watch this space.
Comments: All in all a nice car to drive, may be so far i am one of the lucky owners of these, i have heard of many owners with lots of problems. Thats why i follow the philosophy of ("if it ain't broke, don't mess")

    Buy from new: No
Would you buy another Rover?: only the 220 turbo
Problems: I have blown the head gasket 3 times and on the final occasion due to the lack of parts the engine was left for 4 months, which allowed the piston bore to corrode causing pits to appear. At this point I found out that Rover dont make an oversized piston so a new engine is required. I,m in the process of finding one but this is proving difficult in South East Asia.
Comments: Despite all my problems I shall never sell the car .even as it was a dream to get one and a nightmare to keep one.
