"This is an imaginative and exciting initiative - one that will make considerable demands both on the Guernsey people and on German visitors, so it is a brave step as well.
The Sunday in the week through which the German visitors will be in Guernsey will be kept as Battle of Britain Sunday. Some people, I know, are anxious about this; but I think that this will further deepen and extend the value of the whole idea.
It will mean that all concerned will be seeking to understand, in the light of Christ and 50 years later not only the particular Guernsey experience of the War, but the wider experience of the U.K. and I anticipate that we Britons, whether Guernsey people, or from the 'mainland' will find that many of our German Christian visitors have thought and prayed still more than we have about all this."
