Monday September 16th, 1996

Formal launch of Guernsey Council of Churches Reconciliation Initiative - Mr Robin Guerney, Secretary for Information and Communication, Conference of European Churches, Switzerland addresses delegates from all denominations at Salvation Army Hall - also present The Right Reverend Michael Scott-Joynt, Bishop of Winchester, The Very Reverend Canon Gerard Hetherington, Catholic Dean of Guernsey and The Very Reverend Marc Trickey, Anglican Dean of Guernsey. Thursday August 29th, 1996

The Reverend Canon Paul Oestreicher of Coventry Cathederal who has close links with Dresden has accepted an invitation to come and lecture on Reconciliation for 4 days during the week of the German visit.


Saturday August 10th, 1996

Owing to travel considerations, at the request of the Tour Operator, the duration of the 'week' will now be from Saturday 20th to Saturday 27th September 1997 rather that to the 28th as originally planned.

It is important that all bookings should be made through the Tour Operator so that the event may be properly controlled - further details will be released after the September meeting (16th Sep 96).


Thursday July 18th, 1996

Taking their lead from the 'Reconciliation' theme for the Second European Ecumenical Assembly which is to be held in Graz, Austria in June 1997 the Guernsey Council of Churches in the Channel Islands are to launch a project which is aimed at inviting German Christians of all ages to the island of Guernsey for 8 days in September 1997.

This project is to be launched on September 16th this year at a meeting of the Guernsey Council of Churches to be held at the Salvation Army Hall, L'Islet, Guernsey. Guest speakers will be Robin Gurney of the European Ecumenical Council Geneva, and the Right Reverend Michael Scott-Joynt, Bishop of Winchester.
